Bill Inmon
Bill Inmon, world-renowned expert, speaker and author on data warehousing, is widely recognized as the "Father of Data Warehousing."
He was also voted as "One of the Ten IT People Who Mattered in the the Past Forty Years" by the Computer World Magazine's July 2007 issue.
He is creator of the Corporate Information Factory and more recently, creator of the Government Information Factory. With over 35 years of experience in database technology management and data warehouse design, he has been a keynote speaker for many major computing association and many industry conferences, seminars, and tradeshows.

DAMA-CV EARTLY FALL PRESENTATION

DAMA Central Virginia is pleased to announce that Michael Scofield will give a presentation on "Issues of Geospatial Data Management". Mr. Scofield's presentation discusses, but not limited to, the foundational issues relating to GIS Systems, Data Integration Challenges and Data Management.
Michael Scofield is Manager, Data Asset Development, ESRI, Inc. in Redlands, CA. With annual sales of more than $610 million, ESRI is the world leader in the geographic information system (GIS) software industry. Mr. Scofield has lectured over 130 times to professional audiences across the U.S. and overseas on topics of data quality, semantic data integration, data warehousing, and data management. Prior to coming to ESRI, he was Assistant Professor of Health Information Management at Loma Linda University. He has held posts in the manufacturing and financial services industries. His articles appear in The Database Newsletter, Data Management Review, the B-Eye Network Newsletter, Information Week, IBI Systems Journals, and others. He also has humor published in the L.A. Times and other journals.

Mr. Snowman gave a presentation on "Querying XML using XQuery" which explored XPath and XQuery, two of the standards from W3C that support XML. XPath allows you to identify a sub-node within an XML document. It’s the standard format for searching XML documents. XQuery builds on XPath to allow selection and manipulation of sections within an XML document. Mr. Snowman also talked about the theoretical underpinnings of the two standards and demonstrate numerous examples based on Microsoft's implementations of the XPath and XQuery standards. |

Mr. Finkelstein gave an abridged version of his one day course on "Rapid Delivery of Enterprise Architecture." The presentation summarized rapid delivery methodologies with a special focus on the technologies for delivering enterprise architectures .

Michael Gorman, founder of Whitemarsh Information Systems
|
Mr. Gorman has been involved in database--full time--since 1969. He is a charter member of X3H2, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Committee on Information Technology Standards (NCITS) H2 Technical Committee on Database, has been its secretary since 1978. Mr. Gorman is also a frequent contributor to the TDAN, The Data Administrator Newsletter, and has spoken on such diverse topics as business objects, methodologies, metrics, costing, and industry standards.
